Another chapter in Vilamoura’s sailing story has just been written, as we proudly hosted the ILCA 6 Youth European Championships from April 13–19, 2025. Over the course of an action-packed week, young sailors from across Europe and beyond came together at Vilamoura Marina to compete at the highest level, showcasing the talent, resilience, and passion that define the future of the sport.
From the very first day, conditions proved near-perfect. A steady southwest breeze, starting at 10 knots and building to 15–18 knots through the afternoon, set the scene for exciting races across all fleets. Under bright Algarvian skies, the young athletes delivered an incredible display of skill, teamwork, and determination on the water.
Across the week, Vilamoura’s reputation as a world-class sailing destination shone through once again. With top-tier race management, exceptional facilities, and ideal weather conditions, the event provided not only thrilling competition but a welcoming atmosphere for competitors, coaches, and families alike. The vibrant marina buzzed with activity each day, while onshore, celebrations like the traditional Pasta Party brought the community together after long days at sea.
The energy and spirit of the event reflected what makes Vilamoura such a special place for sailors of all ages. This is a destination where natural beauty, technical excellence, and a true passion for sport come together to create something unforgettable.
