Accor Group takes over hotel management and is implementing an improvement plan
Accor, one of the world’s leading hotel groups with over 5,600 properties in more than 110 countries and over 45 brands, took over the management of Anantara Vilamoura on April 30. The hotel, owned by funds managed by Arrow Global Group, will be renamed Victoria Golf Resort & Spa, Managed by Accor.
Victoria Golf Resort & Spa benefits from a prime location overlooking the newly announced Els Club Vilamoura—formerly known as Victoria, which hosted the international Portugal Masters tournament for several years. It is also just minutes from the renovated Vilamoura Equestrian Centre, which reopens this year to host international show jumping competitions. The proximity to the iconic marina, excellent golf courses, and all the destination’s amenities enhances the appeal of this hotel.
The hotel was acquired a few months ago by funds managed by Arrow Global Group, which, together with Accor, will implement a comprehensive improvement plan for the asset.
John Calvão, Fund Principal at Arrow Global Group, explains, “We are very excited about this partnership with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Accor, which significantly elevates the positioning of the integrated hospitality, sports, and leisure ecosystem we are developing in Vilamoura. This collaboration reflects Arrow Global’s commitment to enhancing Portugal’s tourism offering through strategic management and high-quality assets.”
Omer Acar, CEO of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, adds, “Vilamoura is one of Portugal’s most exciting and sought-after destinations, full of life and energy. Combined with the world-class golf course and the surrounding natural scenery, this hotel perfectly fits Fairmont’s philosophy. We are thrilled to collaborate with Arrow Global Group on opening the first Fairmont property in Portugal and to continue strengthening our presence in Southern Europe.”
The hotel will be managed by Accor under a white-label arrangement during the implementation of a deep infrastructure improvement plan. Upon completion, Victoria Golf Resort & Spa will be fully requalified and rebranded as Fairmont, officially joining the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts portfolio. The exceptional golf facilities and surrounding natural environment make this hotel a perfect addition to the Fairmont brand. Accor will ensure a smooth transition, introducing Fairmont’s distinctive elements, complemented by details celebrating local culture—reinforcing the hotel’s connection to the community and destination.
The hotel features four restaurants, four bars, four swimming pools, a spa with six treatment rooms, a gym, a kids’ club, and direct access to the adjacent golf course. The rooms and suites are distributed across two wings, all with private balconies. The conference areas, with a capacity of up to 700 people, combine classic elegance with top-notch facilities and personalized services—setting a new standard for luxury events in the region.
Currently, Accor operates more than 35 hotels in Portugal, with brands such as Sofitel, Novotel, Mercure, ibis Styles, and ibis, as well as Mama Shelter (from the Ennismore group).
