In a significant stride towards enhancing healthcare services in the southern region of Portugal, Vilamoura has collaborated with the Lusíadas Health group to unveil the Lusíadas Vilamoura Hospital. This cutting-edge facility, representing a substantial investment of 10 million euros, is poised to redefine outpatient surgery services in the Algarve region. The hospital, strategically located within the iconic Lusotur building in Vilamoura, has been meticulously renovated to house this impressive healthcare hub.
This marks a pivotal moment for the Algarve as the Lusíadas Vilamoura Hospital becomes the first in the southern part of Portugal exclusively dedicated to outpatient surgery. The facility offers round-the-clock services, comprising more than 20 consulting rooms, treatment spaces, operating theatres, a minor surgery room, a gastroenterology unit, and an advanced imaging area. The hospital is equipped with cutting-edge technological tools, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computerised tomography (CT), X-ray, mammography, and ultrasound, ensuring a comprehensive spectrum of diagnostic and treatment capabilities.
Vasco Antunes Pereira, the CEO of Lusíadas Saúde, expressed the group’s commitment to elevating healthcare standards in the Algarve. He emphasised that the investment in this new hospital not only fortifies their presence in the region but also signifies a crucial step in the group’s expansion strategy.
The hospital, set to open its doors in the second half of 2023, is anticipated to generate approximately 250 new jobs, contributing significantly to the local economy. Pereira highlighted that this endeavour aligns with Lusíadas Saúde’s dedication to the health and well-being of both the Portuguese population and the foreign residents and tourists in the Algarve.
The Lusíadas Vilamoura Hospital is not only a healthcare milestone but also a symbol of sustainable development. Housed in the iconic Vilamoura World Lusotur building, originally designed by renowned architect Francisco Keil do Amaral, the hospital contributes to the economic and sustainable growth of the region, enriching the healthcare offerings in the Golden Triangle of the Algarve.
