In August of 2025, Rico Sequeira presents Selecantos, an exhibition that brings together different moments of his artistic practice. The title alludes both to the idea of selected fragments and to multiple voices, reflecting the diversity of paths the artist has explored throughout his career. The exhibition highlights evolution as a central feature of his work, articulating rupture, experimentation and continuity within a coherent narrative.
The installation at the Largo das Estrelas, Rua da Lusotur, in Vilamoura, is part of this project and reflects Sequeira’s understanding of change as a constant process of risk, discipline and experimentation. Even when the compositions suggest disorder — through fragments, overlays or visual references — an internal coherence always remains, giving unity to his work.
The official opening of the exhibition will take place on 29 August 2025, at 5:00 pm.
Rico Sequeira was born in Portugal in 1954. He began his exhibition career in 1982 and, since then, has presented his work in several countries, including Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Sweden, Canada, Brazil and Argentina. In addition to numerous solo and group exhibitions in galleries, he has also been invited to exhibit in museums and to take part in International Art Fairs and Salons, such as ARCO, FAC, Estampa and Grands et Jeunes.
